How to Take Photos for Your Remote Dental Consultation

August 2, 2026·Colombia Dental Connect

Good photos make the difference between an accurate remote assessment and a vague guess — here's exactly how to capture the three angles we need.

Photo 1 — Front smile: Take a picture of your biggest, most natural smile, facing the camera directly, in good lighting.

Photo 2 — Side bite (both sides): Pull your cheek back gently and take a picture from each side while biting down naturally with your back teeth, showing how your upper and lower teeth meet.

Photo 3 — Open mouth, top and bottom: With your mouth open wide, take one photo looking down at your upper teeth and palate, and one looking up at your lower teeth and tongue.

A few tips that make a real difference: use natural daylight or a bright bathroom light rather than a dim room, hold the camera steady and close enough that individual teeth are clearly visible, and avoid heavy filters or beauty modes that can alter true tooth color.

Once we receive your three photo sets, your matched dentist can typically assess bite alignment, visible dental work, gum health indicators, and cosmetic concerns well enough to build your initial treatment plan.

Bottom line: three simple, well-lit photos — front smile, side bites, and open-mouth top/bottom — give us what we need to start your personalized assessment.
